
About Out on a Limb Circus
Out on a Limb Circus Arts is a Charleston-based collective of performers and instructors. What began as a passion for performing has grown into a full circus arts company: high-end event entertainment, a West Ashley training studio, and immersive international retreats. Led by Dr. Andrew Zutell and Dr. Lauren Hernandez-Rubio, the team is built on community, communication, and a love of sharing circus with everyone.



Dr. Andrew Zutell
Partner Acrobatics, Aerial Arts, Emcee
​Andrew is co-founder and co-owner of Out on a Limb Circus Arts, and owner of Out on a Limb Retreats. A professional educator and acrobatic performer with over 15 years' experience teaching and performing throughout the US and abroad. His classes are fun, engaging, and designed for all levels, from true beginner to dedicated professional. In addition to teaching Partner Acro, Youth Circus, and Intro to Aerial, Andrew is available for private lessons in partner acrobatics, trapeze, rope, and act creation.
Dr. Lauren Hernandez-Rubio
Aerial Arts, Partner Acrobatics
Lauren is the owner of Out on a Limb Circus Arts Studios and co-founder and co-owner of Out on a Limb Circus Arts, our specialty event entertainment company. A professional educator, she has practiced and performed aerial arts for over seven years. Her primary apparatus is the lyra (aerial hoop). Lauren currently teaches Intro to Aerial, Lyra Level 1, and Partner Acro.




Maddie Melotte
Maddie is a multidisciplinary artist focused on pole and aerial arts, and co-founder of our entertainment company. She grew up in traditional studio dance, and fell in love with pole in 2018, she has since taken on lyra, fly pole, and partner acrobatics. n 2018 she fell in love with pole dance, which quickly became her main focus. Since then, she has gone on to become an accomplished and award-winning performer and instructor. With over 5 years of teaching experience, she also performs regularly with Out on a Limb Circus.
Dr. Lindsey Morgan
Dr. Lindsey has a background in dance and gymnastics. She studied Exercise Science and earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, then she discovered aerial silks in 2012 and has taught and performed professionally since 2016. Outside the studio, she likes walking dogs, training for runDisney races, and baking vegan treats.




Katie Sophia, Esq.
Katie is an attorney living in Hanahan, she started aerial in this same space in 2012 as a creative way to work out and meet people after moving to Charleston from Connecticut, Katie loves all things aerial, and especially steel apparatus.
Harper Cash
Harper has been teaching yoga since 2021 and loves the playful, uplifting side of aerial yoga. She combines mindful movement, strength-building, and fun to help students feel supported in the hammock and in themselves.




Courtney Lemay
Courtney is a lyra (aerial hoop) instructor who loves helping people get strong, confident, and creative in the air. Her classes focus on clean technique, safe progressions, and fun while flying.
Margaret Cotter
Margaret began a consistent yoga practice in 2021 and earned her certification in 2024. She started aerial in 2023 and received her aerial yoga certification with AerialFit in May 2025. Margaret loves combining her two favorite practices, and it show in her classes at Out on a Limb Studios.




Ariel Immer
Ariel is a multidisciplinary artist primarily focused on pole and aerial arts. She started pole in 2022, fell in love quickly, and was eager to try different apparatuses. Within the first year and a half of starting pole she became a certified instructor and followed by joining Out On A Limb Circus Arts. Ariel looks forward to continuing to learn alongside her friends while bringing effortless routines to high-profile events.

Aaron Moriarity
Flow Arts, Fire Performing
Aaron is a multi-prop flow artist that specializes in fire performing. His obsession with the flow arts started when he discovered the dragon staff in 2019. Since then, he has specialized in fire performing with a focus on dragon staff, contact staff, contact sword, and poi. Aaron is also well versed in fire safety and enjoys sharing all things flow arts with the community at large.
Reid Cooley
Flow Arts, Fire Performing
Reid is a multi-prop flow artist that specializes in fire performing. He became inspired after watching street performers, and began training with poi in 2012. Since then, he has traveled and performed all along the southeast, and loves to bring fire and flow wherever he goes.


Katie Kranz
Aerial Arts, Pole
Katie Kranz is a multi-disciplined movement artist primarily specializing in pole dance and aerial arts. She started her movement journey in 2017 and since then has acquired several regional and national titles in competitions. She now is a full time performance artist and instructor.
Kiara Star
Multidisciplinary Aerial Artist, Acrobat, Dancer
Kiara Star has been dancing for almost 10 years studying jazz, ballet, contemporary, and hip-hop genres. Kiara also has backgrounds in gymnastics and acrobatics and trained competitively for most of her early life. She studied with one of Charleston’s top college’s Dance Department and was a part of their nationally acclaimed dance team. She now takes all of these experiences to craft a unique approach to movement and continues to enjoy pushing the boundaries of her talents!
